Uganda Cup Round of 16:
Kitara FC 2-0 SC Villa
Masindi stadium
Kitara football club progressed to the quarter finals of the Uganda Cup for the first time after dumping out fellow league opponents SC Villa with a 2-0 win.
The two sides played out an entertaining first half despite the Jogoos having more goal scoring chances and converting none. Charles Lwanga, Hakim Kiwanuka and Kakande Jonah came close to scoring but were denied by Kitara skipper and custodian Jamil Kiyimba who exhibited a man of the performance.

However the Royals returned better and stronger in the second half bringing on Frank Zaga Tumwesigye, Paul Mucureezi, Solomon Okwalinga and Brian Aheebwa.
Frank Zaga who replaced Denis Omedi had his first touch into the back of the net when he slotted in a the ball from a Paul Mucureezi corner kick to give the hosts a lead in the 82nd minute.

Kitara doubled their lead in the 88th minute through Paul Mucureezi who rebounded in the ball that the Villa defence failed to clear well.
Brain Ssenyondo’s side was facing the Jogoos for the third time this season. They have beaten the Wankulukuku based outfit twice and drawn once.

The win means Kitara joins Pajule Lions and BUL FC in the quarter finals of the 2024 Uganda Cup.
Kitara have now shifted their attention to the next assignment which will be in the StarTimes Uganda premier league where they visit Maroons FC away in Luzira on Women’s day.
