Kitara FC secured a vital 1-0 away victory over Mbarara City FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League this evening at Rwamwanja Stadium, Kamwenge district.
This win marks Kitara’s first ever triumph away against Mbarara City, breaking a streak that saw them lose once and draw twice in their three previous visits to Kakyeka Stadium.
Though played in Kamwenge, the tightly contested Western derby saw Wasswa Bbosa’s side return to winning ways and close the gap on league leaders Vipers after their frustrating 1-1 draw at UPDF FC last week.
Edson Agondeze gave the Royals an early lead in the 9th minute with a beautiful assist from Tala Edward Namasa. Kitara held firm defensively to protect their advantage and return to Hoima with all three points. Agondeze continues his fine form since joining from Buhimba United Saints FC last month, now contributing to two goals in three games for Kitara.
The victory lifts Kitara to 43 points, just one behind Vipers who face UPDF FC on Wednesday in Bombo.
