We are thrilled to announce that Kitara FC will play our 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup home matches at the magnificent Hoima City Stadium. This exciting confirmation was delivered by the Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, during a ceremony at the launch of the construction of Hoima Booma training facility in Hoima City which will be used during the AFCON 2027.
Minister Ogwang affirmed the government’s commitment, stating, “I have committed on your behalf and on behalf of the government that we are going to give them the facility come September where they are going to play their international game. We shall give them Hoima City Stadium.”

This marks a monumental moment for our club and our passionate supporters. After earning our continental spot by winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup last month, we can now look forward to hosting matches on home soil. This stands in contrast to our first continental appearance in 2024, when the lack of a CAF certified stadium in Uganda forced us to host Al Hilal Bengazi in Libya.
The announcement was graced by the presence of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, who also pledged her support to the Royals.
“On behalf of the office of the Prime Minister, I will give you 20 million Uganda Shillings to support you,” she said, giving a significant boost to our upcoming preparations.
Hoima City Stadium is no stranger to the Kitara FC atmosphere. It already witnessed the highest attendance of the last StarTimes Uganda Premier League season during our Bunyoro derby against Buhimba United Saints in early March. Now, it will be the stage for our first ever official international match at home.
For the upcoming continental fixtures, the stadium will operate with a controlled capacity of 17,000 spectators, ensuring a safe and world class experience for all fans eager to witness history.
The entire Kitara FC family is filled with pride and anticipation. We are deeply grateful for the support from the government and look forward to preparing diligently to represent Uganda with distinction on the continental stage, right here in Hoima.
