Martin Kizza has agreed a two year deal with Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC, becoming the club’s second signing of the transfer window after Bonney Christopher.

The left footed winger joins the Royals as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with South Sudanese side El Merriekh Bentiu.

Comfortable on either flank, Kizza brings a wealth of experience, competition and exposure that will prove vital for Kitara as they prepare for continental football in the CAF Confederation Cup this September.

Domestically, he has turned out for Vipers, SC Villa, KCCA FC and Express FC, as well as representing the Uganda national team. His overseas spells with El Merriekh Bentiu in South Sudan, Fasil Kenema in Ethiopia, and Royal Eagles and Free State Stars in South Africa have further broadened his experience on the continent.

Kizza will link up with several familiar faces at Kitara, both on the playing and technical side. He has previously worked under head coach Wasswa Bbosa at Express FC, and has also played alongside Murushid Jjuuko, Isa Lumu and Frank Zaga Tumwesigye connections he believes will help him settle in quickly.

Speaking after completing the move, an elated Kizza said: “I’m delighted to join Kitara FC and I hope we continue winning many matches and titles together. Kitara is my new team, but I’ve worked with some of these people before, so I already feel at home.”

He added: “Kitara has already shown that it is an ambitious team ,they have done well locally and I want to work hard with my teammates so that we can also compete better on the continent.”

Known for his pace, physicality, dangerous crosses and dribbling ability, Kizza is considered a valuable addition to the Kitara squad. He will add depth and competition on the flanks, going head to head with Kabon Living, Jimmy Kalema, John Bosco Byaruhanga and Chrispus Asiki for a starting spot next season.
