Kitara Football Club President, Mr. Deo Kasozi, has expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda for granting the club official clearance to host its upcoming CAF Confederation Cup matches at Hoima City Stadium. The announcement, made by the State Minister for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, marks a significant milestone for the club.

The revelation came during the official launch of the Hoima-Boma AFCON training facility on Friday, June 12, 2026, an event graced by the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja. This new training facility is a key part of the infrastructure preparing Hoima City to host matches for the AFCON 2027 tournament.

We are excited to play our continental matches at the Hoima City Stadium,” said Kasozi. “This is a strategic advantage for us. These Confederation Cup fixtures will also serve as the perfect rehearsal for the AFCON 2027 games that will also be held here, allowing us to show our readiness on the biggest stage.

“President Kasozi emphasized that this opportunity extends far beyond the pitch. He called on the people of Bunyoro to embrace the moment. “This is a special opportunity for our entire region. I urge all locals; hotel owners, transport providers, and our passionate fans to prepare for this huge milestone.

“He further assured that the government’s investments in sports infrastructure are in good hands. “We have assured the Prime Minister and the government that these facilities will be actively utilized. While all clubs will benefit, Kitara FC, as a leader, is poised to make the most of this asset. It’s a blessing for our club, our community, and a wise investment for the nation.

“In a heartfelt conclusion, Mr. Kasozi extended special appreciation to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja for her direct support to the club. “We are also deeply thankful to the Prime Minister for her generous offer of 20 million Uganda Shillings. This support will be crucial in facilitating visas for our players and the loyal fans who will travel to support us on this continental journey.”

The approval marks a significant step for Kitara FC as they prepare for their second appearance on the continent later in September.
